Cattle dog lovers, look no further! Meet Ken, a 2-year-old blue heeler weighing 40 pounds – he's a real looker with those pointy ears and stunning markings! This guy had a rough start, found lingering around a rural cabin, begging for food, and covered in ticks, but now he's on a mission to find his forever family.
Despite his challenging past, Ken has emerged as the sweetest boy. He has typical heeler trait of adjusting well to new environments and has a big heart that nothing can bother him for too long. Social and friendly, he gets along well with other dogs at the park; there's no stranger in his world, he is always happy to greet and meet new people! He appears to be fully housebroken, travels well in car, takes treats so politely and walks well on leash (not a puller, just loves to zig-zag or walks in circle occasionally). After a day of exercise, Ken loves nothing more than snuggling on the couch, often opting for close contact, including a few wet-nosed kisses. He learnt to play with toys in his foster home and is a Pro ball-fetcher now!
According to his previous foster family, Ken is fantastic with kids. But his enthusiasm for attention may result in some exuberant jumping and kisses, we believe he would be best suited for families with older children who can appreciate his affectionate gestures without being easily knocked over. He could probably live with cats with proper slow introduction, since he was very calm when meeting a cat across fence.
As a typical herding dog, Ken loves staying with his people and feels uneasy when separated. He doesn't love being crated when left alone. He has made significant progress in his foster family and can now be left alone for about 4-hours. To ensure a smooth transition to his forever home, his new family should be patient and understanding, allowing him the necessary time to acclimate without subjecting him to prolonged periods of solitude in the initial stages of adoption.
True to his heeler nature, Ken thrives on an active lifestyle, requiring both mental and physical stimulation. A smart and eager learner, he's ready for an experienced family that can continue his training, refine his manners, provide ample exercise, and embark on new adventures together.
Looking for a joy-filled, life-of-the-party kinda pup? That's our Ken! Come meet him – he's not just looking for a home, he's on the hunt for a forever family to share all his love and zest with. Let the good times roll with Ken!
Ken is currently being fostered in Plainsboro, NJ.
