Delta is a 6 month old, 40lb, female, tan/white, border collie mix. This stunning girl also has gorgeous gold eyes. Delta is sweet, friendly and all puppy! She loves to play with her toys and adores catching a frisbee. She is very affectionate, and thinks she's a lap dog. After play time, she loves nothing more than snuggling and cuddling on the couch, and giving kisses and hugs. She also takes treats very gently. She is housebroken once her foster family realized to wait a couple of minutes to allow her to do her business before starting her on a walk (otherwise, she gets too distracted to potty while walking). She also very quickly learned how to alert her foster family when she needs to go outside. She really enjoys being outdoors, romping around the yard or dog park, or going on long walks. She is curious but undeterred by new experiences, watching but not reacting to things like bicycle riders, little kids in electric cars, strollers, etc. Her absolute favorite thing to do is discovering the outdoors, and has her nose to the ground constantly, sniffing absolutely everything. For that reason, she would make a fantastic hiking buddy, exploring the trails and nature with her family, and would also do great in a sport like nosework. She would love to be in a home with a fenced in yard so she can spend plenty of time outdoors without risk of wandering off.
Delta is eager to please and responds extremely quickly to even a little routine and basic training. Her foster family is working on basic obedience and even some tricks, and she is picking it up very fast. Any interested family should be willing to continue working with her, which could be as simple as a basic obedience class. Since she is still a big, goofy puppy, she would likely do best in a home with older children over 6, or should be tested with smaller children to be certain she isn’t overly affectionate or playful with them. She is friendly with other dogs who are likewise social with her, but she may be too much for an older or crankier dog who doesn’t appreciate her fun-loving personality. She would not do well with cats since that herding breed in her is too interested. Delta would make a fantastic dog for an active family looking for a sweet, cuddly and playful puppy.
