Are you looking for a hound whose heart is bigger than his head???? Look no further than sweet, goofy Boone!

Boone was an absolute favorite at the shelter in Kentucky where he came from and everyone was absolutely head over heels in love with him. He has an unaffected personality and gets along easily with all dogs. He will try and engage anyone willing to play—even the 12-year-old boy he lives with. They have long, entertaining tug-of-war marathons with the rope toy, and sometimes the other resident dogs join in for the play.

He loves to run around the yard sniffing and smelling all the good smells, and then he decides he is ready to play. It is the cutest thing to watch him learn how to play with toys. He kind of looks like Bambi tossing a toy about as his legs out in all different directions—and it is just pure joy to watch because you can just tell he is so happy and excited to have toys available to play with!

Inside he is learning that life on the couch is actually quite wonderful, and he and the resident dog look like bookends hanging on the couch together. He is the best boy in the crate and has no problem sleeping and relaxing in it whenever he is crated. Since arriving in foster care, he has been perfectly housebroken, doing all of his business outside and even signaling to the humans in the house that he needs to go outside.

One thing we do need to call attention to is his ears—Boone has absolutely the BEST ears. They are so long and floppy and just so fun to pet—it is almost like therapy—and he loves when you give them attention.

Boone is a coonhound so he is highly food motivated and can sometimes have a loud bay when he gets excited. However, unlike most Coonies, he is pretty quiet overall and has actually been the perfect gentleman in the backyard and in the house.

Boone clearly had a rough start to life as he was a good 15 pounds underweight when arriving at the shelter and positive for heartworms. We are working on fattening him up and he is making great strides in gaining weight. He came through his heartworm treatment with flying colors and is well on his way to kicking their nasty butt. He has a long, happy life to look forward to as a result of the shelter taking a special interest in him and making sure he made it out.

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Boone. He is a gem of a dog who will make an awesome companion for anyone looking to add a canine companion to their family—especially one with a nice, cushy couch!

Boone is 4 years old and is currently being fostered in Bethlehem, PA with two other dogs, one tween boy, and another teenage boy.
