Did you wake up today and think “My house is too quiet”? Perhaps you are thinking an “AWOOOO” will fill the silence that haunts your home. Well stay with that thought, because Tracker is looking for a forever home!
Tracker is an approximately 2 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound that came to Roger’s Rescues from Kentucky. He was found skinny and sad hanging around a Kentucky farm, and the farmer threatened to shoot him if he was not removed from the property. Tracker had been fending for himself for a while, and was just trying to find shelter when it was freezing cold and snowing outside. Luckily, the farm hand transported him safely to the animal shelter, where Tracker’s happy ending began.
When at the shelter in Kentucky, Tracker befriended all of the wonderful staff there. It is hard not to fall in love with this sweet boy! His new staff buddies did everything they could to get him adopted while giving him the absolute best life he could have at the shelter. Tracker even appeared on the news with his favorite caretaker to promote him needing a forever home! (AKA if you adopt this dog, he is famous!!) Still, no one came to give this boy the home he deserves.
Tracker did not give up on finding his forever home, and neither did the shelter staff. The rescue coordinator at the shelter secured him a spot on a lifesaving transport up north, and Tracker made his way up to New Jersey to a loving foster home!
In his foster home, Tracker is living in the house with his foster mom, dad, and 3 other large dogs. He loves all of his canine siblings, and has fit right in from day one when he climbed over the baby gate to make their acquaintance. He will play outside for hours, and will prance around the yard looking for someone to run around with him. His best buddy is a German Shepherd that he likes to cause trouble with around the house, and at any given time you can find them rolling around on the floor together coming up with their next mischievous scheme.
With Tracker patrolling your yard, no woodland creatures will be able to sneak by you unscathed. He will promptly chase squirrels up a tree and bark at them until they surrender. He has done this multiple times at his foster home, and his foster parents have never felt more safe from impending squirrel attacks. Tracker is also VERY enthusiastic about food. He will get extremely ecstatic when he is about to be fed, and bark while tip tapping his toes in excitement. Tracker can literally sniff his bowl of kibble from a mile away.
What is the cutest thing about Tracker? When he yawns, a little howl comes out and he can’t help it. This also happens when he gets too excited. There’s nothing like hearing a small little “woo” when your dog is tired. It makes his foster mom’s heart melt every time.
Tracker is a bomb proof dog that would be good with children of any age as well as other dogs or cats. He is housetrained and sleeps in his crate without any issues. He would love to be in a home with a yard where he has animal or human siblings to play with and dote on him. Tracker is currently on some antibiotics for itchy skin, and may need to eat a limited protein diet to stay healthy.
Tracker is an absolutely wonderful dog that deserves to find the forever family he is looking for. He has had a long road that led him to this point, and is just now looking for the happy ending to complete the fairy tale! Adopt Tracker today!
