So You Want To Adopt Your New Best Friend
Rogers' Rescues will consider adoptive families in the NJ and Eastern PA areas only. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the dog's background and your family's needs. Every dog is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right dog with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the dog's permanent home.
If you are willing to wait for the right animal to be matched to you,
you are an ideal candidate for Rogers' Rescues. As our success rate proves, these precious dogs are well worth the wait.
OUR PROCESS
Find a dog
We appreciate you wanting to bring a dog into your home. Keep an eye on our website and social media to find a dog who might be a match for you.
Please note that we routinely take dogs down as soon as they have an application or two--we don't want to disappoint anyone! So if you don't see your dog listed anymore, don't fret.
Application
Once you hav ea dog in mind, fill out our application. We will review your application and send an email if we have any questions or concerns. We will check with your vet to ensure all your current animals (dogs and cats) are up to date on vaccinations and altered (spayed or neutered). Please contact your veterinarian and give them permission to release your records to us. If you rent, we will contact your landlord to ensure that you are allowed to have pets and to note any size or breed restrictions.
Virtual Home Visit
A Rogers’ Rescues volunteer will contact you via email to schedule your virtual home visit. This is a personal conversation with one of our volunteers to find out more information about you and your lifestyle. We will also ask that you give us a tour of your house, focusing on the areas that the dog will have access to so that we can look for potential hazards that you could encounter with a new dog. Please note that all family members (both furry and human) must be present during the home visit.
Finding Your Pet
Once your application process is complete, we'll put you in touch with the foster home to discuss whether the dog sounds like a good fit. If so, we'll schedule a time to meet! If not, we'll keep your application on file and you can let us know if/when you're interested in another dog.
Additional Information
- We will not discuss adoption details regarding any particular dog if you have not yet applied to adopt.
- Rogers' Rescues is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. We will make every effort to schedule your home visit in a timely manner. Please be patient with us…the dogs need our time too.
- All dogs are spayed/neutered and up-to-date on all shots prior to adoption
- Adoption fees are:
- $350- Puppies who are too young for spay/neuter ($50 will be returned after mandatory spay/neuter)
- $300 dogs 7 years of age and under
- $150 dogs over 7 years of age.
